A working visit to the Netherlands was held in the period from 30 October to 3 November 2016 as part of the implementation of the activities under project: Providing Services for Development and National Aligning of a Management Approach for the Natura 2000 Network and the National Prioritized Action Framework for Natura 2000. Six representatives of MOEW’s National Nature Protection Service (NNPS) and Legal-Administrative Services Directorate participated in the visit. Its purpose was to study the approaches and good practices applied in the management of Natura 2000 and Protected Areas (PA) in the Netherlands. During the study trip meetings were held with Natura 2000 management structures at all levels – the Ministry of Economic Affairs, administrations of the Overijssel and Gelderland provinces (responsible for managing the protected areas within these provinces), Sovon Dutch Centre for Field Ornithology (an organisation responsible for the protection of birds in the Netherlands), the Natuurmonumenten organisation (owner of Natura 2000 territories that it manages) and De Biesbosch National Park.
The Netherlands were selected as one of the countries where the study visits are held, based on analysis of the Natura 2000 management in the EU member-states. A working visit to France will be held by the end of November.
