Today (15.08.2013) the second national round table for development of the national prioritized action framework for NATURA 2000 for 2014 – 2020 is going to be held. The event starts at 14.30 h at the Central Forum Hotel in Sofia and is organized by the Ministry of Environment and Water and Dicon-Agreco Consortium – contractor of the project for development of the National prioritized action framework (NPAF). More than 80 representatives of the public administration, ecological NGOs, business and academic institutions are expected to discuss the strategic priorities and measures included in the NPAF.
The second round table is part of a series of public discussions, which enable all shareholders to participate in the planning process. It is focused on the strategic part of NPAF and the team in charge of its development will present an updated second draft of NPAF. The work on the second draft is based also on the contribution and efforts of a wide range of experts, who took part in the discussions and meetings of the previously set 10 sector groups, held this month. The function of the sector groups is not only to enable access to information to the various professional groups, but also the get more ideas and competences during the development of the framework.
The National prioritized action framework for NATURA 2000 is a new horizontal document, which development meets the obligations of our country under the European Habitats Directive and aims at common action of the institutions and organization, as well as efficiency of the resources used for the conservation and restoration of the biodiversity in Bulgaria. The project for the development of the framework is financed by Operational programme Environment 2007-2013 under priority axis Technical Assistance. As the framework is of importance for the society, the process of its development is accompanied with a series of public discussion and meetings. The NPAF will be completed at the end of September this year.
