SECTOR GROUP MEETINGS FOR THE NATIONAL PRIORITiZED ACTION FRAMEWORK FOR NATURA 2000

In May 2013 the first sector meetings were held for development of National prioritized action framework for NATURA 2000 (NPAF) in years 2014 – 2020. On May 23, 2013 the meeting of the sector group Biodiversity was held, on May 29, 2013 the meetings of sector groups Sustainable agriculture, Fishery & Aquaculture and Sustainable forest management were held, and on May 31, 2013 the common meeting of the sector groups Green energy, Green infrastructure, Green jobs and Green tourism was held. More than 150 experts of the NGO and business organization, academic institutes, universities and national public administration took part. The objective of the meetings was to present and discuss the first draft of NPAF, in particular the priorities, measures and activities described in it.

The work of the sector groups are part of the consulting process during the development of this strategic document and aims at achieving high degree of public support and understanding of the specific priorities related to the biodiversity conservation and of the potential of the nature to generate benefits for the society. The sector groups will meet as NPAF is developed and submitted to the European Commission in September 2013.

The second meetings of the sector groups will be held in July. The topic of the meetings will be the second draft of NPAF, in particular the measures and preliminary budget. Any comments and suggestions related to the first draft of NPAF may be sent to the project team. All will be registered and available in an electronic register at MoEW website.

The National prioritized action framework for NATURA 2000 is a new strategic document, which development meets the obligations of our country under the European Habitats Directive. The following means will be used to implement the framework - operational programmes 2014-2020, LIFE programme, other granting instruments, public and private financing. The NPAF is developed by DICON-AGRECO Consortium and is part of a project of the MoEW, financed under priority axis Technical Assistance of OP Environment 2007-2013.
